Co-Founder of Enchanted Fairies Fine Art Portrait Studio Wants YOU to Embrace Playful Magic

National Children’s Day is just around the corner, celebrated in the United States on the second Sunday in June. This year, it falls on June 12th, and stands to honor the young and young-at-heart.

“There is a national celebration day for all things childlike,” said Aileen Avikova, Co-Founder of Enchanted Fairies. “The potential to be inspired by these playful holidays is to embrace the magic! National Children’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate your little ones while getting in touch with your own inner youth,” she added.

Enchanted Fairies is a charitable photography organization that gives back thousands of dollars to children in need all over the United States. The photography studios, which span from California to Texas, place high value on helping children feel empowered and beautiful, inside and out. Children and adults can enter another realm, posing as fantastical fairies, woodland heroes, and mermaids or mermen.

Needless to say, the Enchanted Fairies studio is a stupendous place to celebrate your children any day of the year! We sat down with Avikova to learn how she recommends respecting and saluting your children on National Children’s Day!

Ways to Honor National Children’s Day

Cutting back on technology use, slowing down to appreciate your child(ren), and building new habits for your family are great ways to celebrate!

While there are many ways to parent, one topic sticks out, especially in 2022: The idea of healthily balancing technology with your children.

“When I am on my phone or watching the TV in front of my child, it sends the message that it (the device) is more important than she is,” said Avikova. “In our household, we are cognizant of this fact and do our best to keep device usage to a minimum in front of our children. National Children’s Day is a great marker to start working on this good habit: Think of it as your Children’s Year Resolution!”

When it comes to slowing down, think sitting on the ground with your child and playing whatever imaginary games they like to play. For older children, ask them questions about their interests. Are they reading a book or playing a video game you know nothing about? Even if you don’t really care to know much about them, because they are not your interests, embracing the information your son or daughter will give you makes them feel loved and important.

Finally, you can work on building strong habits with your children and in your household as a whole.

“Some prefer to have family pow wows at the dinner table, while others like to ask their kids and family members before the day gets started what they plan to do for the rest of the day,” said Avikova. “Perhaps your family needs help in the diet, exercise, cleanliness, or creativity department. Take time each day to discuss these things and plan ways to best execute success!”

Honoring Your Inner Child

If you don’t have children yet, are expecting, or cannot be with your child on June 12th, this section is for you. Celebrating and acknowledging your inner youth, the part of you that is non-judgmental, curious, and unencumbered by stress and adult responsibilities.

“Take time to be with your inner child,” said Avikova. “What did you like to do when you were young? Whether the answer is read, play outside or pretend, color, dress-up, watch movies, or play games, follow that lead and curate a special day that speaks to your inner past self. You might renew old hobbies you didn’t know you still needed!”

So, to all the parents out there, celebrate your children on National Children’s Day and every day! And to all your kiddos, we wish you a fun and exciting day full of family time, smiles, and memory-making.
