Ghana-based non-profit organization, My Friends club has been nominated for the first FN Business Awards 2017 under review.
The organization was nominated under ‘Social Enterprise / NGO of the Year’...My Friends Club is a registered community based organization (CBO) based at Nkwanta South in the Volta region of Ghana. My Friends Club for the past decade has been working in Nkwanta district and is eager to liberating adolescents from the traditional way of treating health issues.
My Friends’ club has been in partnership with the Nkwanta South District Health Directorate since its inception. It is a group of young men and women who were disgust due to the high level of ignorance displayed by the adolescents and the youth at large in relating to basic health issues.
The club has organized outreach programs targeting the adolescents and the youth at large in senior and junior high schools as well as churches and other organized groups in the Muslim fraternity.
My Friends Club has also been in partnership with Non-Governmental Organizations and other organizations to help liberate through education the many adolescent and the youth who have been in bondage due to culture and some traditional believes.
Due to the clubs unyielding passion accompanied with hard work and dedication to educate, liberate and bridge the gap between adolescents and health personnel, the club have been made to partake in all stakeholders meeting organised by the District Assembly and the District health Directorate.
My Friends Club is now venturing into supporting the rural poor communities with educational, health and other social amenities.
About the Co-Founder:
Mr. Bernard Potakey is the co-founder of My Friends Club and he has been very instrumental in the growth of the organization.
Mr. Bernard Potakey is also an ICT tutor at the newly built Nkwanta Senior High Technical School.
currently, he is working with the iLEAD Foundation Ghana, Narayana Foundation, and the
John Dumelo Foundation Ghana, all are NGOs working to promote society and humanity. Mr. Potakey is said to have also assisted Dambai College of Education to establish a relationship with the Ghana India Kofi Annan Center of Excellence in ICT, the current ultra-modern signpost at the entrance of the college was a gift from Microsoft Ghana which he lobbied for among other social intervention programs.
