Parliament will sit on Sunday, January 21, 2018, to swear the Speaker Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye as Acting President of the Republic of Ghana.

Article 60 (12) also provides that ” The Speaker shall, before commencing to perform the functions of the President under clause (11) of this article, take and subscribe the oath set out in relation to the office of President”.
The House is being summoned by the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu in the absence of the Speaker who is currently out of jurisdiction and is due to return Sunday.
Order 42(3) of the Standing Orders of Parliament states that “the Speaker if he thinks fit, call a sitting of the House before the date or time to which it has been adjourned or at any time after the House has been adjourned sine die”
