On Monday, 21st January 2019, NSU-UPSA Chapter embarked on an outreach project aimed at donating learning materials, mainly textbooks, exercise books and pens to some selected deprived schools in Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Regions of Ghana.
Some of the schools that received the materials are Dazongo D/A primary and JHS, Paga D/A Primary and Navio E/A Primary in the Upper East Region, Limanyiri Model School in the Upper West Region and Gburimani Ahamadiya school, Tibogu D/A primary school and kpachiyili D/A primary school in the Northern Region. In all, materials worth 10,500 Ghana Cedis were distributed amongst these schools.
Speaking at the donation exercise, Headmaster for Dazongo D/A Primary and J.H.S, Mr. Nouma Alhassan Bukari said the school had been virtually abandoned and it had been nine years since the Ghana Education Service sent them books. He thanked the union for taking such a good initiative to come to their aid. He also lamented the sad state of the kindergarten classrooms and appealed to the authorities to provide tables and chairs to give children a better learning environment.
The President for NSU-UPSA Chapter, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Sayibu entreated parents to take a keen interest in their wards’ education and also pleaded with authorities to provide better learning conditions for students.
